FLYING PROGRAM

Airshows Downunder Shellharbour is renowned for presenting a cross section of the most spectacular flying in Australia.

Modern frontline defence force aircraft share the display program with elite civil aerobatics teams, restored vintage and warbird aircraft and some of the latest in general aviation and sport aircraft.
Whether your preference is the roar of jets or the thunder of vintage radial and V12 engines, Airshows Downunder Shellharbour has something for everyone.

Please keep the following in mind when reviewing the flying program:

  • Attending aircraft are subject to operational requirements and weather.
  • Program is subject to change and correct as of Wednesday 28 February.

You can also meet the aircraft here and start exploring the best of Australian classic warbirds, vintage aircraft, general aviation and military performers.

Want to know more?

The Airshows Downunder Shellharbour Flying Program has been carefully curated by our Ringmaster, aka the director of flying displays (just without a top hat), and is made up of different styles of displays to ignite your excitement. To help you understand what you will experience as you watch the flying displays, here’s a helpful guide:

  • Aerobatics – Thrilling manoeuvres that involve bank angles greater than 60 degrees and/or pitch angles greater than 45 degrees.
  • Aero teaser – Short aerobatics display.
  • Balbo – a large group of warbirds flying in formation
  • Flag Drop – Aircraft climb to altitude before releasing skydivers, who descend with large flags suspended below them.
  • Flypast – One or more aircraft fly straight and level past the airshow audience.
  • Formation flypasts – A flypast performed by two or more aircraft holding a set formation.
  • Ground Attack – An aircraft simulates manoeuvres used to attack a ground target in combat.
  • Handling display – An aircraft demonstrates its flying ability with manoeuvres that may or may not include aerobatics, depending on the individual aircraft’s capability.
  • Tailchase – One or more aircraft chase another, as they would in aerial combat.
  • Scramble – One or more parked aircraft start and take off in the shortest time possible.
  • Solo – A single aircraft performing.
