Once again the NSW Government has announced its support of Wings Over Illawarra as the largest AIR Show in NSW
On Monday 5th of December we were delighted when Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast Gareth Ward announced that our State’s largest annual air show, ‘Wings Over Illawarra’ is returning in 2017 with the New South Wales Government securing the event for another three years.
Mr Ward said that ‘Wings Over Illawarra’ is recognised as one of the largest events in the region.
I am delighted to announce the NSW Government, through our tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW has secured ‘Wings Over Illawarra’ from 2017 until 2019,” he said.
Next year the event will be bigger than ever with the introduction of the new trade show component – Aviatex, which will showcase the latest products, equipment and services from renowned aviation companies across the country.
This exciting expansion demonstrates the event’s wonderful success story since its inception in 2007 and we look forward to welcoming visitors to the South Coast region in May for another standout Regional NSW event,” Mr Ward said.
New South Wales Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said events are vital in helping grow the NSW visitor economy.
In 2016 Wings Over Illawarra attracted more than 12,900 international, domestic overnight and day trip visitors who spent more than $1.4 million in the region,” he said.
We are excited to be continuing our support for Wings Over Illawarra which will not only boost the local visitor economy, but provide visitors with an opportunity to take a short break and further explore the region’s picturesque country towns, fresh seafood and beautiful white sandy beaches,” Minister Ayres said.
Aviatex 2017 will be held at Illawarra Regional Airport from 4th until 7th May and will target the light sport and recreational sectors of the aviation industry.
Wings Over Illawarra will take place on 6th and 7th May.
