Exciting Announcements

January 31, 2020

Wings Over Illawarra 2020 will have three exciting new features at the event.

NSW Drone Expo

For the very first time Wings Over Illawarra will incorporate the inaugural NSW Drone Expo.  The expo will feature drone racing from the Australian Defence Force and exhibitors from all sectors of the drone industry.

This exciting and dynamic technology has evolved beyond its military origins to provide powerful business tools and has seen rapid expansion over the past few years. Along with their increasing military capabilities and the leap into the recreational consumer market, the use of UAVs is continually increasing in sectors like agriculture, mining, construction, firefighting,  exploration of resources and surveying.

The NSW Drone Expo will showcase UAV manufacturers, retailers, flying schools and service providers along with professional advice from government regulators and industry experts including business users, commercial drone pilots, photographers and film crews to list but a few.

Entry to the NSW Drone Expo is included in your entry ticket so make sure you go and experience this exciting technology while you are at Wings Over Illawarra 2020
Oz Flight Sim Expo

After two successful years at the Shellharbour Airport the Oz Flight Sim Expo is now a part of Wings Over Illawarra!  The Oz Flight Sim Expo is the only flight simulation event in Australia and offers flight simulation enthusiasts of all ages the perfect opportunity to get up close with some of the most impressive displays and product demonstrations.

As part of the airshow, the Oz Flight Sim Expo will be open to the public for the duration of the airshow and all airshow entry tickets include access to the Flight Sim Expo, along with all the other fantastic airshow action and event exhibits.

Connecting simmers with a wide variety of exhibitors, including software developers and retailers, hardware suppliers, organisations and groups developing and providing virtual simulation platforms and of course with the new location at Wings Over Illawarra, real world aviators.

General Aviation Precinct

In 2020 Wings Over Illawarra will incorporate a General Aviation precinct featuring static aircraft displays and flying schools along with industry exhibitor sites for aviation suppliers, manufacturers and service providers.

The introduction of the GA precinct will provide the aviation community with a General & Recreational Aviation industry event alongside Australia’s premier annual airshow, while showcasing “grass roots” aviation to one of the largest airshow crowds in Australia.

It will offer the general public an opportunity to interact with the general aviation industry, view products, ask questions and see up close the affordable side of aviation, and of course inspire new members to the join the industry.

Aircraft displays will range from microlights and gyrocopters to the latest in composite sport and recreational aircraft plus of course the classics and a few of the more unusual aircraft types.
