March Update for Wings Over Illawarra 2021

March 24, 2021

2021 Airshow Season Kicks Off

What a year for airshows the last 12 months have been.

The last show of 2020 was at Tyabb, Victoria on 8th March and roll on a whole year until we were treated to the Temora Air Force Centenary Showcase on 6th and 7th March 2021, followed a week later by the Hunter Valley Airshow in Cessnock.

We couldn’t be more excited to see the start of the 2021 season to be kicking off.

The Temora Airforce Centenary Showcase was a great weekend enjoyed by everyone who attended and all under clear skies.  Saturday at the Hunter Valley Airshow was fantastic, however unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate on Sunday, and while the guys still managed to put on a great display, the weather certainly impacted the day for a lot of the attendees, but overall it what a great weekend.

Air Force 2021 Centenary News

Coming up on the 31st of March is the RAAF Spectacular

Centenary Flypast over Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra which

will be commemorating 100 years of the Royal Australian Air Force,

so if you are in the ACT or can get there, it will be well worth a look.

Wings Over Illawarra 2021

Here in the office, we are working hard on pulling together a great show which will also have its main focus centered around the RAAF Centenary, especially considering what a special year for the RAAF it is.  That being said rest assured you will also be treated to the usual crowd favourites. We strongly believe 2021 will be by far the best Wings Over Illawarra we have ever staged.

With the move to the November dates, we are looking forward to some fantastic spring weather and of course being held during Daylight Saving, much more daylight hours than we have previously had for a May show, so you won’t be heading home in the dark.

The rollout of the COVID19 vaccine has started and is scheduled to be almost complete by the show dates of the 13th and 14th of November, so we are confident that COVID restrictions will not have an impact on the event.
